  • How to Pay Your Dues, Renew Your Membership

    The log-in box in the upper right-hand corner has a line, "View Profile" Click that, then Select "Membership" from the Profile menu. You will find "Renew" there. Changes to other information, such as address, can also be made there.

    Thank you to all that joined us at our home for AFT's Bastille Fete. In spite of the heat, we celebrated with great conversations, great food and great wine. The music and songs supplied by Cheri Williams and troupe made it even better.
    We are also glad that we didn't have to choose which dish was the best, they all were! Again, thanks so much for attending.

  • Bastille Day events

    I was unable to attend the Alliance Francaise de Toledo Bastille Day, which I miss all  the more after viewing the photos, but I did make it to the Thursday, July 14 celebration of the Detroit Alliance at the Detroit Country Club in Grosse Pointe.  It was quite an elegant affair with a champaigne toast and renditions of both the U.S. and French national anthems.  Entertainment included music, a vocalist, and a mime.  I found the mime a bit scary, but enjoyed his attempts at singing.  The Wayne County executive gave a short speech, which his daughter, a French teacher, translated into French.  A couple from the French-American Chamber of Commerce indicated a desire to attend some of our Toledo Alliance activiities.

  • AFT Celebrates Bastille Day 2011

    At un Coup de Main in Dundee Georgeann and Mark hosted the annual potluck. Fine examples of many cooks' work complemented by fine French wine, music by Cherie WIlliams & Co, and, of course, lots of good fellowship.

    Bonjour to the Alliance Française de Toledo,

     My husband and I are long-time members of the Alliance in Charleston, SC.  Seven years ago, we retired to France full-time. A former editor with Better Homes & Gardens,  I now work in France as a free-lance writer (mostly for France Magazine and Living France).

    We’ve had the good fortune to live in a 14th century château in the Burgundy countryside with a lovely French couple.  Our experiences have been so unique that I’ve started a blog about them, and about French life from an American perspective.  The blog is called Southern Fried French (http://www.southernfriedfrench.com).  Because I love to cook and the French cooking experience is so different, each weekly blog includes a recipe, often a fusion of French and southern cooking.  Readers can subscribe for free simply by entering their email address.
