The Alliance
Française was founded in Paris in
1883. Eminent personalities such as Louis Pasteur and
Ferdinand de Lesseps were among the organizers of this
philosophical endeavor. Today, the Alliance Française
network includes 179 independent organizations in the
United States, 55 of which have a school, and over 1300
Alliances worldwide in more than 100 countries.
The Alliance Française de Toledo is an educational,
cultural non-profit organization, incorporated in the State of Ohio in
1966. Its objectives are to encourage and further the study of the
French language, to develop the knowledge of French culture and to
promote friendship between the Francophone and American peoples,
welcoming members of any racial, national or ethnic origin.
